The main activity has been concentrated in exploring new glass materials and their possible application in art works.
Several workshops were organized teaching art students different techniques in glass art.
Among the new materials and techniques VICARTE is exploring luminescent glasses under UV light as well as several ceramic phosphors which can be applied in glass. Development of new techniques to produce ruby glass are being studied to enlarge the colour palette available to artists.
CO2 laser engraving, 3D printing, thin layer deposition using spray pyrolysis are being experimented. Reproduction of ancient vases is also being studied.
A few examples of artworks and experiments with several techniques are shown below.

(a good talking to balloon copy),
Author' note: “This laser engraving here was made by taking the photo of the piece I made, reducing it to a 'line drawing' in Photoshop, and
then transforming that line drawing in a 3d program called Cinema 4D,
to what is called an 'extrusion' of that line drawing. I then fed that image into the engraver and engraved the enamelled black glass”
