Glass Art:
“Glass in Art: Light and Colour” (POCI/EAT/60496/2004)
“Glass Art and 2D and 3D printing” (PTDC/EAT/67354/2006).
Both of them explore the development and application of new glasses and glazes, and will address particularly effects of light and colour using new techniques, either thin layer deposition to obtain dichroic glasses by optical interference or 2D and 3D printing in glass art and architecture.
Provenance studies:
“Provenance Studies of Portuguese Glasses” (POCI/HAR/55882/2004)
The archaeometry of glasses will follow the idea of characterizing XVIII century glasses first from the “Real Fabrica de Vidros de Coina”, almost concluded, and later from the “Real Fabrica de Vidros da Marinha Grande”. Other glasses of the XVIII century are being studied.
Glass Science:
Concerning the corrosion of glasses and glazes, ancient stained glass windows are being studied and model glasses are being prepared for corrosion studies, and the same procedure will be made for the investigation of corrosion of ancient and contemporary glazes.

A Master in Glass Art and Science open to Students of Art in one of the newest and most innovative concepts in glass education which exists. It will be open also to students of Sciences which will prepare them in glass science for industrial, scientific, architectural or artistic pursuits.
Moreover the Unit also participates in the Master in Conservation Science recently launched by FCT-UNL and ITN.
