The Research Unit "Glass and Ceramics for the Arts”, VICARTE is in the Caparica campus of the Faculty of Sciences and Technology (FCT), Universidade Nova de Lisboa. The 38 acres on which this Faculty is housed is located high on the Tagus River bank directly opposite Lisbon and only 2 miles from the beautiful seaside beaches of Costa da Caparica. A new metro station was inaugurated last year, enabling students to reach
central Lisbon in 25 minutes, avoiding the bridge traffic entirely. Inside the campus there are several cafeterias, a stationery and bookshop,  a mini market and a bank.
